A workshop being held on Tuesday, Nov. 17 is aimed at helping farmers and other agricultural businesses increase the marketability of their products.

The workshop is being hosted by Strathcona County and Alberta Agriculture at County Hall in Sherwood Park.

BCI Marketing Partners, which has experience in working with food producers, processors and suppliers in a variety of farm-related areas, will present the workshop

Geared towards farmers, start-up food processors, farm groups, business development teams and future entrepreneurs, the workshop will teach people how to identify market opportunities "and create successful product positioning in growing value-added markets," notes a press release announcing the workshop.

The workshop is one of eight modules offered by the Canadian Value Chain Network, which is funded through Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.

"Workshop participants will explore a range of cost-effective means for gathering market intelligence, learn how to develop a profile of market requirements and see how these concepts and tools are used in practice, particularly for the introduction of new products," the press release notes.

Participants will also learn how to sell their products to restaurants, farmers markets and retail outlets through creating a market strategy.

Registration for the event is $40 for county residents and $50 for non-county residents. People interested in attending are required to register before Nov. 14.

Register by calling Jennifer Brosseau at 780-410-8511 or e-mailing her at brosseau@strathcona.ab.ca.
