Two suspects are being sought by the RCMP after robbing a Sherwood Park convenience store early Tuesday morning.
According to Strathcona County RCMP Const. Wally Henry, two suspects walked into the 7-11 convenience store near Sherwood Park's Davidson Creek subdivision and one demanded money from the cash register while the other served as a look-out.
The employee obliged and the suspects left without incident, Henry said.
Strathcona County RCMP is not releasing the amount of cash stolen.
"It's the right decision to make," Henry said of the clerk's actions. "Risking your life or risking injury is not worth it."
The two suspects are believed to have left in a white pick-up truck.
RCMP is reviewing surveillance footage taken of the incident and conducting neighbourhood interviews in an attempt to gain clues about the suspects' identities.
So far, the RCMP has released descriptions for each of the suspects.
The first suspect is Caucasian and has a medium build, about 6 feet tall, weighting 180 pounds with short, dark hair. He was wearing a white coat and black shirt, as well as loose-fitting grey/blue jeans and dark coloured sneakers with light laces, Henry said.
The second suspect is Caucasian and about 6-foot-2 and 160 pounds with a thin build. He was wearing a dark coloured coat with a hood over his head, blue jeans and white sneakers.
Henry said the incident does not appear to be related to a similar robbery at a Sherwood Park Subway restaurant in March.
People with information about the incident are being asked to call Strathcona County's RCMP detachment at 780-467-7741 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Crime Stoppers will reward tips leading to an arrest with up to $2,000. Tips can be given anonymously.
